Andrew Godwin Theory

Bruce Springsteen Dancing In The Dark
Springsteen's  Video follows the Genre characteristics outlined in Andrew Godwin's Theory as style and iconography  (e.g. stage performance, guitar and audience) show the artists star image.

Beyonce - Single ladies
I have chosen this video as it illustrates  Andrew Goodwin's theory of the star image. The Many close up shots and long shots of  Beyonce presents her as important and the most prominant out of the three women in the video showing she is the star.

Michel Jackson - Thriller
Jacksons video presents a strong Relationship between lyrics and visuals with the visuals illustrating, amplifying the lyrics. The visuals are so powerful that the video came with a warning and was based in many places.
Katy Perry - Last Friday Night This music video features Inter-textual
pop-culture references such as the singer Rebecca Black and the video game just dance. It also parody's historical drama through the use of day dream.

First Aid Kit - Cedar Lane
I chose this video because of the  Repetition, fast paced zooming and short cuts which all add to its abstract nature. Hover the key feature is the vivid colour pallet with adds a phsycadelic effect to the video.

Dire straits - Brothers In Arms
This Music Video displays the effect a collaborative  relationship between the music and visuals can have through editing to the beat the images are given more power and effect. The artistry video featured in the video makes it abstract but through this is also conforms to a performance videos star image as the band is also depicted.

Andrew Godwin Theory
  • Thought through beat (seeing what the lyrics mean in your head) &
  • Relationship between the song and Visuals.
  • Narrative and performance of the song.
  • Technical aspect of a music video
  • Star Image (protagonist), lots of camera shots making him/her the centre of attention
