Genere research artists

Artists such as Taylor swift, Sam Smith and Katy Perry are all featured in mainstream media very heavily, they are always presented  as looking perfect and the women especially are heavily sexualised. The artists are often styled in eye-catching bright outfits that draw your attention.

Narrative Music Video

The camerawork style in narrative music
videos is varied as they are telling more of a
story the shots tend to be longer and less
choppy compare with other videos, this
means they require less obvious editing
however they commonly have edited sound
effects or dialogue at the beginning or end.
Due to the narrative style they feature
characters that are often in locations such as
houses or schools meaning the rise one
 scene must match thisNarrative music
videos are often the product of pop songs with
 meaningful descriptive lyrics rather than
 dance or electronic music.

music video vs a film opening

What have I learned about the differences between constructing a music video vs a film opening?

Through the process of creating my prelim I have descoverd just how different music videos are to film openings. This immediately became evident the more research on music videos I did, through watching them on youtube I discovered the key difference is each ones purpose. The agenda of a music video is altogether different from that of a film opening. Film openings must begin to convey a clear story by setting the scene or
introducing a main character, all whilst featuring opening titles. Whereas Music videos are moving images that acompany a song, they aim to enhance or elaborate the listeners experience by adding visuals that commonly depict the message or story of the song.

Behind the scenes / making of prelim

Me and katie filmed our prelim one day after school, we used my living room as it had good light and looked similar to some of the scenes in the music video we recreated. One of the most challenging things we found was trying to create a white background, we used white card and propped it against a wall, however the difficulty was  the fact that we struggled to frame our shots without the grey wall intruding. After moving the camera around a lot we eventually made it work.

Prelim shooting schedule / storyboard

We shot our prelim all in one day as it is only 40 seconds long. We did not use a shooting schedule or storyboard we just copied the video shot for shot.
