Inspiration

This is Bruno Mars music video for his song 'thats what I like' it features 2D animations which illustrate the lyrics and enhance his movements.

Mise-en-scene

Here are some images I found when researching the mise-en-scene of my project.

Suzie's propps

Throughout this piece Suzie will be using these props...

  • Scarf - She leaves on train - Elliot gives it back to her
  • Shopping bags - Takes bags with on the train
  • Book - reading on the train which districts her from Elliot
  • Headphones - yet another distraction that prevents her and Elliott from talking the first time they meet.

Elliott's propps

Through the piece Elliott will be using these props...

  • Newspaper - He reads this on a train and then hides behind it due to his shyness (which has been used in films before)
  • Scarf - Stays with him through the majority of the piece until he finally returns it to Suzie
  • Mapp - Buys from a shop in London - eventually tares it up

Suzies Costume

Here are some ideas that I have had for Suzie's costume I want her also to be in darker monochrome colours so she matches Elliott. However her clothing will be smarter to make her look more put together which will contrast to Elliott's scruffy appearance.

Costume

Here are some costume ideas I have had for the main character in our music video, each item is purposely neutral in color as i want the scarf to stand out when he has it in his possession.

Timings

'Don't Get Me Wrong' is split up into very distinctive verses and instrumental sections. The timings are as follows:
17s- instrumental
19s- verse 1
21s- verse 2
16s- instrumental
19s- verse 3
21s- verse 4
18s- verse 5
36s- instrumental
19s- verse 6
37s- verse 7

Why story boarding is important

It was vey important to me that the storyboard I created was in full detail as I new this would benefit me when filming as it would lay out each shot in order.

Story board

New Idea

The new idea is a narrative video which is set around central london it follows a lovestruck boy who sees a girl on the train and spends his day trying to return the scarf she left -The storyline is almost a modern day cinderella

New Song

"Don't Get Me Wrong"

Don't get me wrong
If I'm looking kind of dazzled
I see neon lights
Whenever you walk by

Don't get me wrong
If you say hello and I take a ride
Upon a sea where the mystic moon
Is playing havoc with the tide
Don't get me wrong

Don't get me wrong
If I'm acting so distracted
I'm thinking about the fireworks
That go off when you smile

Don't get me wrong
If I split like light refracted
I'm only off to wander
Across a moonlit mile

Once in awhile
Two people meet
Seemingly for no reason
They just pass on the street
Suddenly thunder, showers everywhere
Who can explain the thunder and rain
But there's something in the air

Don't get me wrong
If I come and go like fashion
I might be great tomorrow
But hopeless yesterday

Don't get me wrong
If I fall in the 'mode of passion'
It might be unbelievable
But let's not say so long
It might just be fantastic
Don't get me wrong

Change of Idea

We have decided to change our song and idea as we felt that filming in school would be too difficult as it is not always accessible and it is very busy. This means As a group we will go away and think of a new concept and find a different song.

Mise-en-scene

My music video is going to be predominantly set in a school here are some examples of some filming locations I could use.

Costume

Here are some ideas of what I want the main character to wear in my video.

Props

These are examples of sketchbooks I have found
In the music video I am making the character is going to carry around a notebook which will feature his sketches and song lyrics, the book provides the audience with window into the protagonists innermost thoughts and feelings.  Andrew Goodwin's 'Dancing In The Distraction Factory' theory suggests that intertextual references are a key aspect of music videos. This is when references to other media are made in the video, something which we will incorporate into our music video through 'the book'.

Song Timings

The timings of the original song are as follows:
0:00- 0:14 -1st instrumental
0:14- 0:24 - 2nd instrumental
