Digipack

Final Advert

Digipack and CD

This is the Digipack I created for my band

Editing

The editing process was a long one for this particular project as all the cuts and sequences had to be precise and to the beat as this makes a polished product. The hardest bit to edit was the shot montage that took place in the music break it was after than the other sections and needed to look cohesive and snap in order to have the effect we wanted.

Filming in london

Many famous films tv shows and music videos have been filmed in and around London, they are able to use  the sights and the atmosphere to their advantage and make it a key element in the work. I will aim to do this as well as it is important to me that my piece is a love letter too London and truly celebrates its beauty.

Filming in London

Londons cultural significance and beauty will be a key part of my piece so I will sty to include as many of the famous sights as I can here is a list of possible ones...

  • London eye
  • big ben
  • tower bridge
  • bus tour
  • trafalgar square
  • the globate British museum
  • St Pauls cathedral
  • the southbank
  • Paddington station

Red scarf

We decided to pick the colour red for the scarf in the piece as it represents..
  • Heat
  • Passion
  • Romance
  • Love

Communicating with actors

We created a watsapp group chat to communicate instantly and easily with our actors this made it easier to crane filming days and co-ordinate props.

Scheduling Conflicts

Due to everyones busy lives we didn't begin filming when we originally wanted as we couldn't manage to arrange a time to film with our two actors.

Lyrics

The Pretenders – Don't Get Me Wrong

Here are the key phases in the lyrics I plan to animate...
Don't get me wrong
If I'm looking kind of dazzled
I see neon lights
Whenever you walk by

Don't get me wrong
If you say "hello" and I take a ride
Upon a sea where the mystic moon
Is playing havoc with the tide
Don't get me wrong

Don't get me wrong
If I'm acting so distracted
I'm thinking about the fireworks
That go off when you smile

Don't get me wrong
If I split like light refracted
I'm only off to wander
Across a moonlit mile

Once in awhile
Two people meet
Seemingly for no reason
They just pass on the street

Suddenly thunder, showers everywhere
Who can explain the thunder and rain
But there's something in the air

Don't get me wrong
If I come and go like fashion
I might be great tomorrow
But hopeless yesterday

Don't get me wrong
If I fall in the 'Mode of Passion'
It might be unbelievable
But let's not say "So long"
It might just be fantastic
Don't get me wrong

Adverts

Here are two album adverts from bands from a pop rock genre I noticed the...

  • Bright colours
  • Bold fonts
  • Band logos
  • Band photo

Rom - Com Shots

As the narrative of my music video is romantic and has a fairy tale-esque happily ever after ending I decided to research the conventions of rom-coms specifically shot types. I found slot of two shots and over the shoulder conversations shots as these suggest intimacy between characters.

Hand held camerawork on an iPhone

Using a handheld camera is important to the homemade rough-around the edges look of my video.

Animations

I used a wacom tablet and a creative cloud package with adobe after effects to create the animations in my video. The program allowed me to draw onto of the fully edited music video with a pen onto the tablet this gave me the doodle look I wanted. To make the animations appear and disappear I changes the times they were on screen.

Making the Digipack

This was the initial digipack I created, however I didn't feel it spoke to the personality of my bad or would appeal to my audience.

However I did still like the album over as I felt it fit with pop rock conventions very well.

Filming day 3

On the third day of filming we filmed the bridge shots which were very had to film du to the map being buffeted by winds the bridge is all very busy so we err very much in the way due to this we had to be quick.

Preparation for filming

Before filming I made a shooting schedule which had on it everything we needed to shoot that day this allowed us to be more organised and ensure we had the right props.

Filming day 6

Our final day of filming was probably our most successful, as the weather was good  we filmed the Trafalgar square sequence and got some of my favourite shots from the whole video.

Filming day 5

The fith day of filming was mostly day train re-shoots as some of the shots we previously got didn't make sense at the train would cut from stationary to moving so we re filmed a few shots.

filming at night

Filming at night was incredibly difficult as often times the light was so log that the phone would compensate and ruin the shot to counteract this we had to film in artificially lit spaces and lighten things in post production.

Filming day 4

On the fourth day of filming we got the train after school and filmed the whole ending sequence, it was a very successful shoot as we got more than enough footage and we also shot the final scene were the two characters walk off together.
